Anoseas Spa

A quiet retreat shaped by the landscape of Crete, Anoseas Spa extends the architectural narrative of JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa into a deeply atmospheric world of wellbeing. Conceived as a place of retreat and restoration, the spa brings architecture, nature and ritual into a carefully composed spatial experience.

Set within the rugged coastal terrain of Marathi, the design reflects Block722’s  approach to contemporary hospitality, where architecture emerges from the character of its surroundings. The textures of stone, the tones of the Cretan landscape and the proximity of the sea inform a calm and tactile environment, establishing a direct relationship between the built form and the natural terrain.

Light, shadow and natural texture become central architectural materials. Filtered daylight, soft transitions and carefully framed views shape an atmosphere of calm permanence, while the boundaries between interior and exterior remain intentionally fluid. The landscape is treated as an active participant in the wellness journey, accompanying the guest through moments of retreat and release.

The spa programme brings together traditional Cretan healing references and contemporary wellness practices through a choreography of intimate, interconnected spaces. Treatment rooms, thermal experiences, a vitality pool, beauty facilities and a dedicated yoga deck unfold as part of a continuous spatial narrative, where each function is designed for atmosphere, tempo and emotional transition.

Within the holistic vision of the resort, Anoseas Spa becomes a distilled expression of Block722’s hospitality language: architecture that supports wellbeing through material sensitivity and a sense of place. Every surface, threshold and opening contributes to a quiet dialogue between body, nature and architecture.

Rooted in the Mediterranean landscape, the project embodies a timeless approach to wellness through simplicity, texture and quiet refinement.
